I am trying to get the AC going in my mothers 04 xterra. I have found the leak but am having a hard time finding the part number and have looked at many pictures to figure out what this hose is called. It runs along the firewall comes out the pasanger side in the engine bay and goes across then into the top of the compressor, any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is called the Low Pressure hose, Suction Line, or Compressor to Evaporator hose. You can find them on Rock Auto for $12 to $63.

I have an alternate idea that might also work.

That hose has a joint where the 2 halves are bolted together. The metal pipe on the passenger's side is not likely the issue, so by breaking it at that joint and following it to its other end, you can take it to a hose shop and see if they can build one for you using that as a pattern.

After that, then you can have the AC recharged properly and hopefully that will solve your dilemma.
