I didn't see anything already posted on this (I did do a search), sorry if it has already been posted.

I just received a "recall notice" in the mail today for reprogramming the ACU (Airbag Control Unit) to prevent unwanted side curtain airbag deployment - I.E. when you're out having a good time on the trails and hit a bump just right...

Nissan is referring to this as a Voluntary Service Campaign rather than as a Safety Recall.

Quoted from the Nissan site: Certain 2004-2014 Nissan Titan, 2005-2014 Nissan Frontier, and 2005-2014 Xterra vehicles within a specific production range are affected. See: http://www.nissanassist.com/web/AirbagControlUnit/ProgramDetails.php?menu=111 for more info.

Call your Nissan dealer at your earliest convenience to schedule an appointment.

Also, Nissan is offering reimbursement in some cases to owners who have replaced the side curtain airbags due to unintended deployment if the repairs were not covered by nissan. According to the recall notice I received, owners should visit www.nissanassist.com to get a claim form. Be prepared to provide the repair order, proof of payment, and proof of vehicle ownership if you submit a claim.

I attached a copy of the recall notice.
