My 2004 X has been pretty reliable up until now, it has 156k miles on it and is my daily.
My problems started when I noticed I was getting a rough idle and the drive was terrible and at a red light my car would stall and die if not just hang around 200rpm. I figure i'd take it to a shop since my mechanic friends were bus after Autozone gave me a free readout of my engine codes. The shop owner said I had bad spark plug wires so he replaced them, my ride was smooth and great only the problem was still there I would stall and die or just get really low rpms, I was told to bring it back next week only problem was that my x died right in front of my neighborhood so I pushed it to my driveway and I could no longer do that. My friends pretty much replaced everything mechanical that turns over xterra as far as there research goes.

1. new distributor unit(cam sensor is built into the distributor so that too)
2. new sparkplug wires and plugs
3. new timing belt
4. new crankshaft sensor

I still can't get a spark! The rotor turns when I crank the key but nothing, voltage is going to the rotor as well however they aren't sure of the proper amount they do know that power is in fact going to it though. they checked the fuses that replace to the engine inside of the engine bay as well as the ones inside the cab, there all fine.
the're stumped and think the ecu is bad, if this is the case how much would it be to replace that since there positive it is something electrical?

This probably has nothing to do with my no spark issue but if anyone is interested my codes were p0300,p0132,p0152,p0327,p0328,p0127,p0462, in that order

Any advice is greatly appreciated, it's been a frustrating two weeks so far.

unfortunately it was my computer, they said there was no communication between my injectors and my engine cranking. I bought a rebuilt computer for 550$ and it appears to drive just fine, I seem to have lost my rear view mirrors location and outside temperature display though, Im not sure if this is because if a wire was not plugged in after the installation or if the computer wasn't programmed to have this feature. Also this happened at the 156k mile mark. I figure given my other problems something electrical was bound to fail, it was just my luck that it had to be the mother of all electrical woes. My codes haven't came back on either and its been around 7~11 miles.

Crazy.

These trucks are kind of shitty...

I have been through 4 distributors in less than 1500 miles. The one time I had a shop look at it, they said the "next step" would be to replace the computer. Glad to know that it is an actual possible problem on some models and not just the shop throwing parts at it because they do not know what else to do.
