I just bought a 2002 Xterra XE and it already had a broken rear drivers side leaf spring. I have two replacement leaf springs available off of a parts X that is from 2001. According to the manufacturer, there was a break or change in the production of leaf springs between 2001 and 2002. I was wondering if I could replace both rear leaf springs on the 2002 with the ones from the 2001 anyway. And if not is there a modification I could do to the 2001 leaf springs to make them fit the 2002 X? Thanks

Look at the leaf, if they are with the same arche and lenght but the spring eye isnt the same, change the broken leaf with the 2001 Do the same on the other side so your truck is level.

I did a pml on my 2003 X and in replacement of longue shackle, I change my broken leaf spring pack with new one and add a leaf from the broken pack. I just cut the main leaf eyes and add the leaf in the middle of the pack. That lift me a 2".

If your 2001 leaf pack is more arched, that Will lift you a little if not, maybe you will need more leaf. If they are really arched, they maybe lift you to High. If you add a leaf, you need to change the bolt that retain the spring pack together. Take about 5h to do the job. Worst part is removing the shackle driver side. The muffler block the shackle so I remove the leaf and let the shackle on the frame shackle mount.

If the spring pack cost you nothing, thats what I'll do. New leaf pack was 150$, need to change both and need new bushing in many case. Be prepare To change them also.
