Hello I have a 01 X I was leaving my house and all of a sudden it lost power and sputtered out. I went and replaced cap rotor plugs and wires fuel pump and filter and fuel pump relay and still nothing. I’m not to mechanically inclined but I know the basics. My rotor spins upon crank so I don’t think it’s my timing chain, but not sure I’m stumped any help would be greatly appreciated

Could be the distributor itself. It commonly fails due to internal bearing corrosion or failure of the cam position sensor integrated into it.

Test the fuel pressure. There was a service bulletin that went out a while back on the electrical connector for the fuel tank transfer unit where it would corrode inside and break, killing power to the fuel pump. This eventually happened on my 01, and I had to replace the sending unit. If it turns over, you're either not getting spark, or not getting fuel to the injectors. These are probably the top two most common causes.

I was also thinking it was the corrosion on the fuel transfer unit connectors.im not exactly sure what to pull off to see if I am getting fuel. I thought it could be my timing chain, but my rotor spins upon crank.but I am not sure if it could have slipped a tooth or two it would still spin. This is my first Nissan I’ve owned, I inherited it from my grandfather and this is the first issue I’ve had

Have you ever replaced your fuel sending unit? If not that would be the first thing i would replace. There was a recall on it and it's a very common problem on these trucks. my dad had to replace it many years ago when i was a kid.

and if that isnt it the distributor would be where i would go next as it is also very common on these trucks and once its done, its done no crank.

sounds similar to what happened to my 01. ended up being the dizzy. runs great now. don't go with a crappy aftermarket one as they all suck. found a OEM one on ebay with less than 75k on it for 100.

suggesting a used oem distributor? i wouldnt buy any used electrical or moving parts both of which a distributor is. i never had any issues with the duralast gold (autozone) distributor i put in my 98 pathfinder or 00 xterra both with the 3.3. you are begging to do the job again and end up buying a new part and being out the money for the used one doing this, at least the aftermarket ones have warranties so you wont have to buy more parts if it goes out again.

Pull off the distributor cap and have someone crank over the engine and look to see if the rotor button spins. If it does not spin timing belt is broken.
yep, if it spins pop the rotor off and look for metal shavings or corrosion sure sign the distributor has failed
