Do you have a check engine light on with a code you can report? Have you been taking care of the basics like air filter, fuel filter etc. Have you checked for air leaks in the intake air hose or vacuum lines on the engine. Might be the fuel pressure regulator. Lot's of possibilities with a vehicle that old.
2000s shutters and dieS
I have a 2000 4x4 this happend gradually,it was hard to start some times other times crank right up now if I can get it started before I kill the battery it will idle but as soon as you give it gas or move from park shutters and dies checked fuel pump, filter ,mass air flow sensor throttle body poss.HELP has anyone else has this problem if so what the fix

A few years back mine would shutter and die - at red lights, sometimes right when I started it, even on the highway at speed. Turned out to be the distributor.
