1st Gen SC - Leaking oil at valve cover and loud exhaust popping

I may just get rid of this vehicle, may be way too complicated for my wallet.

Is there an easy way to remove the valve cover and change the gasket w/o removing the sc? The driver side valve cover is leaking oil. Also, there is an obvious hole in the exhaust on the passenger side in the engine compartment above the cat I believe or under the sc. I can't tell from the noise alone. If it is a crack in the exhaust manifold on that side, is it a major undertaking. Everything looks so tight.

And if the sc needs to be removed for any of this, is there a DIY?

I know I'm new and probably sound extremely neophytish but any assistance would be welcome.
