Seems like we get a lot of repetitive hitch questions so heres a chance to build a post of all known info to help ease the confusion
Step 1 do you have a hitch already?
yes step 2, no step 5
Step 2. Is your X auto or stick shift?
auto step 3 , stick step 6
Step 3, the auto is rated up to 5000lbs, do you have a 4 pin plug on the back?
yes, step 7, no step 4
Step 4, you need a wiring harness, the plug is located under the truck on the passenger side near the frame rail. There is a cap you must remove before plugging in the harness, it should be grey. You can get this plug from your dealer ~ $20 or from http://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Fit-...Xterra/2004/118244.html?vehicleid=20041175216
plug it in and you should be good to tow.
Step 5, you need to get one. 2 known options are the oem one from your dealer or Xterraparts
Or your local uhaul will have the Hitch only for ~$135.
Step 6. The manual is rated up to 3500 lbs, Your X is not prewired though, so you will need either the oem parts kit, or a light adapter that you can find at most auto parts stores
Step 7, your question may actually be worthy of a new post. But i would highly suggest you search first because its probably been asked already.
Feel free to add other input and i'll update it.
