Differential Help! 06' X 4x4

First, I want to say THANK YOU ALL for the great posts and insight!

I did, thanks to the other posts/suggestions, change the oil on my X's transfer case for my 06' -V6 4wd. I used a 10mm Allen wrench.

My problem is the rear differential!

The drain plug is also a 10mm (you may get by a 3/8) but the fill plug has a twice the size hex and it is not a square. Help!

It also looks like old silicone was used and located mid-way on the axle. Is this where it I need to fill-in and what size for the fill-plug to remove?

Thanks for your insight and expertise (in advance)!

Use your 1/2 inch ratchet without a socket on it. It actually might be 3/8, now I don't remember for sure.

Got it!

I bought a 1/2 breakerbar/arm and used a 1/2" hex socket- beauty!

Boy, am I relieved to have finished in 45 minutes!

So finished the Transfer case fluid change and the rear differential too!

Thanks bud! I will post some pics to show others.
