P0430

I have a 2005 X it has 140,000 on it so I'm out of any warranty its throwing the code for P0430 "Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)". I've heard people say it the o2 sensor people say its the cat, can someone tell me which o2 sensor and or which cat I think its the driver side, is it the pre-cat or main cat? Also I live in California and we have stupid emission laws, if someone can give me some guidance on this situation I would appreciate it.

I had that code and it was the driver side cat. I also had P0420, passanger cat, right after I replaced my driverside.

So is it the pre-cat or main (longer, bigger cat further down)?

Main cat on driver side, the one connected to the header.

i have a 06 with P430, i've replaced the o2 sensors, pulled the cat and it's perfect inside.
we have to sneak past the inspection each year using 93 octane and RXP on a hot system and clearing the codes. Is it possible for the ECU to be bad? truck runs perfectly. I got an aftermarket cat from orileys and the fitment was horrible.

Revu will become famous soon enough
The cat functioning below threshold wouldn't effect the operation of the engine in any noticeable manner, it'd just mean the truck is polluting more than it should be.

Most aftermarket cats are going to be bad if you're not running a custom exhaust system. The tubing for the VQ40 cats are very intricate and would require an exhaust shop to weld it on with some custom piping to make everything work without going direct fit. And then you have to worry about sensor placement and all that.

Good luck!
