New Xterra Owner

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I used to own a Subaru Outback L.L. Bean Edition. Just recently some major things went wrong, decided it was time for a new car. I picked up a clean 2006 Nissan Xterra Offroad Edition. I am pumped about this SUV, I did a good deal of research (even on this thread) and this thing is really living up to its reputation. I had my Subaru for almost 200,000 miles so I'm looking forward to a long relationship with my Xterra.

I'm in Wisconsin, so if anyone knows of any offroad clubs/spots in the state I'd love to hear about them, (especially in the Milwaukee area). Also, if you guys have any suggestions as far as step bars, brush guards, and light racks I'd love to hear those. Although, I heard the brush guard could really screw up my approach angle for hills.

Cheers,
Joe

Welcome! You heard correctly about the brush guards. They also cause additional damage in small front end collisions. Not a huge issue if you have good insurance, but nonetheless an issue. Look into real armor if you want to get out on the trails and avoid the superficial stuff that looks cool.

For a front bumper, HeftyFabWorks makes my favorite, followed by Shrockworks. This will replace your brush guard with something more substantial for those deer.

For a rear bumper, Bucksnort, from thenewx.org is close by and makes some killer rear bumpers. That will handle the back armor.

Now, avoid the step bars and add some White Knuckle sliders and you will be set. Good luck and post pictures!

Welcome! I came into my X having sold a WRX myself... Subies are great cars, but think you'll enjoy the X as well!
