Hey guys im a owner of a 2002 xterra supercharged. I know this has been discussed lots of times but ive done everything on my X but for some odd reason my truck has still been in fail safe mode or boost drop. Ive replaced knock sensor, knock sensor harness, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and timming belt and its still on 2 pounds of boost or it runs on 8 pounds then boost drops back to 2 pounds. If someone can please help me on what to do i would really apreciate it thanks.
Are you using premium 91 or 93 octane fuel only? Did you do a knock sensor relocate or replace it on the block? Can you pull obd2 codes and post? What's the status of the fuel filter? The notorious distributor bearing? Did you properly set the timing after the belt change? We'll need a few more clues.
Another idea is a vacuum leak on the supercharger bypass actuator, maybe a perished rubber hose (check the really short and small hose on the top back of the supercharger. They are known for getting cooked.) Test the actuator and see if it holds a vacuum as well.
I've got a 2003 s/c and have been down this path-hang in there, you'll figure it out.
Go to your fuse panel by your knees an look for a fuse called A/C Cont. garentee you its blown. i have yet to understand what blows it, but happens to me.
if you say it feels like its in a safe mood thats probably the main cause is that little fuse. but it could be something else, but mostly that little fuse.
