Transmission problems

I have a 2010 xterra offroad with automatic trans. I've done some searching and I see a lot of 05 xterra had the trans cooler go bad. Does this trans cooler go bad in the 2010 model also. The problem I have is when you put it in reverse or drive it hesitates for a second then it goes into the gear. I checked the trans fluid it's nice and clear. No milky look to it at all. The vehicle has 63000 miles on it.

Anybody know what I can do to fix this problem. I checked the radiator cap and it looks good to. Checked both the reservoir and the radiator. Does not do it all the time. For instance this morning it was around 50 degrees. I got in it. Let it warm up a bit stuck in reverse. It went in like it suppose to. I went to the shop to open everything up and to wait for my daughters bus to come. When I went out to take her to the bus I stuck it in reverse it hesitated. You would think it would of done it this morning when it was cold then now. Any help I really don't have the money to take it to the dealer.

That I know of trans was never service. The fluid level was at the full mark. I just recently purchased the vehicle. It had 61000 when I purchased it. Carfax was clean.

Are you by chance parked on a hill, even slightly? The newer Xterra's have hill assist and they actually hold the breaks using the ABS system until you have time to get your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal so sometimes you get this slight hesitation. Just an idea.

Hey dezurtrat I am on a slight hill when parked. I will keep a look out for that. That could be my case. I hope it is.

I would be willing to bet that is what you are running into. You shouldn't be running into any transmission issues. Regardless, it wouldn't be bad to flush the fluid at that mileage and refill with all new Nissan Matic S.

No problem! If you do it yourself, make sure to have 12 qts on hand to do the flush. Thats about how much it will take before you see good transmission fluid.
