2004 Xterra

Ticking sound when hot - 2004 X

I have a 2004 X that has started to make a ticking sound when it gets hot. It sounds like a valve or lifter. What's the best way to diagnose this for sure?

2000 XE V6 Xterra

Start by making sure it's not a cracked exhaust manifold.
