Please forgive me if this is not a "repair" question. I bought my '02 Xterra used, it is the XE, 4x2 with the inline 4 engine and 5 spd. manual transmission.
I've owned it for two years now and the most annoying thing is I can only open my door with the key, not to mention the passenger-side door does not even have a key lock.
Since I bought it used, is it possible it might have keyless entry but the guy just failed to mention it?? How could I tell?
Again, sorry for the seemingly silly question but it's of real concern to me.
Sounds like this will tell you if it is equipped or not, these are the first 3 steps to program a remote, but if your lights flash you should be equipped.
1. Step1
Open the driver's side door, get in and shut the door. All the doors must be closed to program the remotes.
2. Step2
Lock all the doors by pressing the driver's side lock/unlock button.
3. Step3
Insert and remove the key in the ignition six times within 10 seconds. The hazard lights will flash if you did it right.

Oh my gosh, the keyfob remote I ordered worked! I bought it from keygirl200902 on ebay for like $12! I can't believe I went two years without this. So anyone in the same boat, see if you get your hazards to flash after step three, if so you are capable of using a remote. BTW, I noted the ebay seller not because I know them or anything, simply that the remote was a great price, arrived quickly, and works perfectly.
