I just find a Kiwk Kar and be done with it. I work up by the Galleria, so I've been known to head over at lunch to get it done.

Correct. Knock sensor code will not cause you to fail inspection because a knock sensor code will not light up the SES light.

since the sensor is in the engine itself

since the sensor is in the engine itself not just the block could a dirty engine cause it to think its bad would a professional fuel system/fuel rail cleaning help?

just brainstorming ways to not cut wires and modify it from factory on that resepct i want my knock protection just in case this is my second vg33e engine i had a 98 pathfinder had 2 injectores replaced for p0301 and 5 but later it came to be an almost fully clogged fuel filter $20 at autozone and 20 mins of my time and wouldnt have had to replace injectors i had the injectors tested after i took em out old ones were functioning as usual not bad this is different though and i have replaced fuel filter already on xterra also check plug wires seem fine it had its 105000 tune up i have the receipt detailing individual parts replaced spark plugs (6) spark plug wires (6) cap rotor timing belt and water pump service all totaling about 1200 it looks as if they replaced the spark plug wires and cap/rotor for free because of timing belt service as they had $0.00 beside it but showed the work done would a distributor help, i do have a somewhat rough idle but nothing worse than an old car with the 147,500 miles mine has on it

hey guys, my question on this knock sensor failure / fault code issue is.... if the code is current ( timing retarded ) could this be the reason for failing emissions test? "co" was too high. only fault code stored and no check engine light.

could be but i had my co and nox checked when i noticed mine had that code paid 25 to have it checked without telling them it had the code just saying i want to know if this would pass emissions right now if need be and they hooked it up and said yes it would pass so you may actually have a knock try usong higher grade fuel and clear the code see if it will pass then use reg gas again i think the summer blend has something to do with it also the ethanol as ethanol has a lower energy content then gasoline so when it ignites it doesnt burn as thoroughly so what im doing to see if it will help is running 89 with some fuel treatment and so far i think it has im going to check for codes at next fill up im running gumout complete in this tank may start keeping some stabil ethanol treatment in it after this
