Gas tank door

Hey guys

There is no locking mechanism on my gas tank door and it sorta just flops open and closed as I drive around. Have we come up with a simple solution to this?

The door is supposed to have a spring in the hinge that keeps it closed. I forget if the door is plastic or metal, but if it is sheet metal, perhaps a small magnet could keep it closed.

How about a locking gas cap.

Locking gas cap won't keep the door from flopping open as he drives.

Been there, lol.

Here is a pic of what it should look like. It's real tricky to get to back in the right way too, so just keep playing with it till it works.

Let me know if you have any questions.

After taking a second look at it, it appears as though I still have the spring mechanism but it may have dislodged. Will use the pic as a reference to see if that is indeed the problem.

Thanks!

Yep, it seems to happen from time to time. If it doesn't stay in the first time, just keep flipping it and putting it back it, it will eventually work. I haven't had mine come out in about year now. I originally removed mine when I did my body color change, and had know idea it would be so tricky to get back in, lol.

My hinge is actually broken. Can you purchase the hinge anywhere?
