Engine Code PO430 and PO328 04 Xterra

I'm getting codes PO430 and PO328. So I need some advice from those in-the-know. A regular mechanic told me he would diagnose it (the 430) for $135 by running smoke tests of the exhaust etc. A nearby Nissan dealer charges $105 to run the thing on their Nissan computers. Am I better off with the dealer? If it's the Cat, am I better off with genuine Nissan parts or aftermarket? Am I better off with the dealer making the repairs or a regular mechanic?

Part of my problem is I'm new to the area so I'm just stabbing in the dark with mechanics, and the vehicle wasn't purchased from a local dealer. It's an 04 that runs great and has 91,000 on it. Thanks for any substantive input.

My primary goal is to make sure the thing passes emissions.

My thoughts would be, that if you don't plan on doing anything outragous with your X, then i would go for a factory CAT.

I have the same error code problem (430) but i'm just going to replace the entire exauhst, just because it would look nicer. but go factory all the way when it comes to repairs, that and they should be cheaper too.

If quizes are quizicle, then what are tests?
