Evap Control system

I got some warrenty work done at the dealer for the cat going bad and then the next morning the ses light came on again. went to autozone and came out with P0441, P0448, and P0455. all of these linking to the evap system. did some searching and alot of you were talking about the gas cap. anybody have a different solution other then that?

Repair Fault Code P0448

E-mail me at camattic@shaw.ca. I will send you a PDF of complete instructions of how to diagnose and repair your EVAP canister and vent valve

I have the same code on my X. Check all your hoses and hookups in the EVAP system for leaks and broken connections. Also if you smell gas fumes around the rear of the vehicle after you shut off the engine, then it's good indication that the EVAP system is not working correctly. I broke one of the little plastic vacuum cutoff valves in the back by the canister when i was reinstalling my passenger side leaf pack. Haven't replaced it yet because it's $95 for a small plastic connector, but the code popped up soon after it broke. Hopefully that gives you some place to start.

The problem never really goes away. When the code stops coming up, you will probably notice that it takes a little longer to fill your tank. Means that the valve is stuck closed

My check engine soon light has come on for the 3rd time, replaced the gas cap after the second time, how much do those engine code scanners cost for a nissan?? we don't have any autozone shops in my area.

Just got one, displayed engine P0455, gross evap. leak.

Time to check my Xterra service manual, EC.pdf pg # 32

Well it just cleared on it's own the check engine soon light???
Always thought these code alarms couldn't reset that way???

sionnach will become famous soon enough
From what I can tell the check engine lights will reset if you go 50 miles without having the same issue again.

e.g. it takes two instances for it to throw a code (like a knock sensor or misfire) then you drive a bit and it'll reset if it doesn't happen again.

Code readers are relatively cheap.

Costco has one for $90.
I'll sell you mine for $60 + shipping. (used once Innova reader - need to upgrade to a scangauge myself)

hope this helps.
