The front door speaker are 6.5" COMPONENT speakers. Meaning the door speakers are just a 6.5 woofer cone...not the kind with the built in tweeter (baby speaker) built into the same speaker.
When you buy a component set of speakers, they come with separate woofers and tweeters. The problem is that the tweeters are often difficult to install and make it look clean...they will be a surface mount type tweeter and probably won't fit the same location in the A-pillar.
I got a set of Rockford Fosgate R 165s components from Amazon for about $65 and I like them a lot. I did not use the tweeters that came with it, though.
I would probably try to find a junkyard or ebay and buy a replacement tweeter, and then upgrade the front door speakers anyway....or try to engineer a way to use the tweeters that come in a component set
Read my how to:
I ended up getting the R165x3 speakers heres the link: and separate set of rockford tweeters. but I ran into the problem you mentioned. I have no idea how to mount and wire the speakers. but I figure I can just make the hole where the old tweeters were slightly bigger to make them fit in the existing location. I have a few ideas on how to make it work but Im not sure can I private message you to run through some of my ideas to see if they would work?
