would a symptom of the bad coupler be the rattle just at idle and at normal speed it seems ok? My wife called be today and told me our 02 X (110K) seemed to be running rough at idle or low speed but once underway it seemed ok .....I have not been able to look at it (shift work) ....sure would be nice if this is the problem ....otf

Old but relevant thread. How long can you drive with the knocking/ rattling coupler before it goes? And when it goes, does the belt need to be removed before driving any more?

I have the new coupler on order, but need to use the truck in the meantime. Keeping the rpms low.
