If you are looking at your engine bay, look down in between the Radiator and engine towards the left bottom of the radiator. There are three hoses, the largest hose is for coolant and the two smaller hoses are for transmission. When I did my drain and fill for my transmission, I didn't bother disconnecting those hoses because only a small amount comes out and if you do a couple of drain and fills through out the year, your trans will eventually contain all new fluid. Someone people like to be very diligent and change the hoses or clean them out, flush the trans cooler lines, replace the filter....I mean it all really depends on how well maintained the transmission has been over the years. If its around 100k miles and no drain and fill services where performed, then yes a very thorough service should be performed.
