How much power are you looking for? I don't know if the swap you are describing has been done but you are going from a single cam head to a dual cam head. I can assure you it's not going to be a bolt on simple process.
If you want more power just turbo charge it. The internals can handle a turbo no problem. It would be easier to turbo it than trying to change the heads.
Problem with turbocharging is getting the proper tune. VG30DET was only good for about 200hp. But is a much simpler design. The VG30DE heads are a huge headache. Even on the Z-cars.
There have been some good results in the Z31 world with the VG33 bottom end/block and the VG30E heads and single turbo. The issue with that in the Xterra is the added underhood heat and I'm not sure if it would interfere with the steering shaft.
Either way you're not looking at a simple job lol
Super charging might make sense, as there are bolt on parts to do it, and you can play with pulley diameter to get the power you want, etc.
