The 17 indicates a problem with your G sensor. The 12 is not a fault code. 12 always precedes any stored fault codes and then flashes again after all the stored fault codes have flashed. If your ABS has no problems, you will still get a 12 code.

Some thought? not too hard to fix?

I am looking into this because I just bought a Nissan Xterra with ABS light on. I figured I would know know to do because I did it with my 99 Grand Am. So I am thinking the harness behind the rotors could be dirty. Clean it with a compound that is ABS friendly. Use some dielectric grease in the connections so it keeps out the debris on the road. I found I didn't have to replace those components but I did find a frayed wire that I soldered back together and have not had issues since. So thats where I would start. Sounds like the same problem I fixed on my Grand am.
