Replaced the Distibutor now no crank

I replaced the Distributor last week. After placing the new one in and reattaching the battery leads I tried to turn over the Xterra. Got nothing. There is a click and the fuel pump kicks on but the engine doesn't even try to crank. Tried a new battery and still had the same issue. Broke down and put the old parts back in and still had the same issue. I jump started the car and was able to get it to run and it ran perfectly!! I mean no rough idle or running at all. Turned the car off and tried to turn it back on but immediately got just click and the fuel pump again. Fuses seem to be good and all so no clue what else it could be

PLEASE HELP!

Based on that I would suspect the battery. If I were you I would have the battery tested first.

Sounds like your battery might have a bad ground connection.

Clean the battery connections? Wire brush and CocaCola works great

Garage
X2 on connections. Clean the battery and also the starter connections. My guess is a bad connection. Or maybe the alternator so the battery doesn't get a charge. I'd start by inspecting and cleaning the battery connections. If you do the starter connections disconnect the battery first. It's too easy to cross it by mistake and get sparks
