OK. I have searched the forum and the net for weeks now and have seen a lot of information on this but nothing definitive for my application, which is a 2003 Xterra SE/SC.
If anyone has a DEFINITIVE solution for installing electric radiator fans by either replacing the shroud with a different one or attaching a fan to the inside of the factory shroud I would like to see or hear how you did it.
I have looked at the "Custom-Concepts" radiator/fan combo but I was hoping to pull this off for a lot less than that set up costs. To my knowledge my radiator is in great shape, so I don't feel like I need to spend money on a radiator that I don't need.
If anyone can share a thread that this has been done on I would appreciate it but I have had no luck finding one that shows this being done from start to finish, just a lot of ideas and suggestions.
I'm planning on doing a combination of the two. I bought the maxima fan, but it wasn't quite as perfect of a fit as the thread makes it sound. However, with a modified stock shroud, I think it will turn out good.
Also, I highly recommend the flex-a-lite controller. I don't have mine installed yet, but just based upon the reviews that I have read during countless hours of research, it is worth every penny.
Thanks Legit! You found what I couldn't... I owe you one!
TJ- I have a few reasons:
1. stock fan is no longer in original position due to BL and removing bottom of shroud. (so not optimal)
2. To make AC cooler
3. More HP
4. More mpg
5. Cooler engine = longer engine life.
When have we not modified something that was "working fine" to something that "works better"?
These are my reasons, well a few of them anyway.
I like having projects. I enjoy working on the X.
One of my HS Football coaches had a slogan - "Bigger-Faster-Stronger" I am just applying that philosophy to the X.
I appreciate all the help guys and gals here on the forum have given all of us! THANKS!

I have the Concept Customs unit and it works great. If that is not an option fab a full shroud and a 3000 CFM fan. My AC runs at 40 F at the vents with the fan. :frozen-big:
That is essentially what the post that Legit shared with me shows, custom shroud with two high cfm fans installed like the Custom-Concept unit has.
I will probably use the same set up as I would rather have two fans than one. (if one fails I will have another running, and something is better than nothing....)
I am very hot natured and in the summer here in the south it gets rough... especially for a guy my size. So some ice cold AC would be wonderful in this nasty muggy summer heat.
I think the post that Legit shared will be the way I role with this project. It looks like it would and be fairly simple to fab up. I can't wait to get started on this project.
I got the E-Fan build completed. It was pretty easy. I'll upload pictures to my garage and post them here later on. Works great!! Very quiet! And moves a ton of air... over 3k CFM's....
I also changed out the alternator for a new 125amp alt designed for the quest. Besides having to go up a belt size to accomodate the new size and lack of adjustment it went pretty well too.
Thanks for everyone's help! Couldn't have done it without everyones help here!!!

Did you ever get a chance to upload and document the project? Would love to check it out. Interested in doing this on my 2004 XE.
