2012 2WD non tow package..

If I add a 2" inch, do you guys think it would tow a boat?

The boat is a 1997mastercraft prostar 205. Weighs about 2500. The trailer is about another 1000 lbs so the total is 3500 lbs.

Will the nissan Xterra tow 3500 lbs ? Single axle trailer.

Thanks!

That will be fine. You are still 1500 lbs under the limit. Does the trailer have brakes? If not, consider adding them because that will be your biggest issue you will run into.

Typically boat trailers will only have surge brakes. Somewhat useful in sudden stops, but not for controlled braking like a travel trailer's electric brakes. You can't really use electric brakes on a boat trailer as electricity and water don't mix.

Take it easy and you'll be fine (and for God's sake, stay in the right hand lane).

No whining now...
