Hey all , so now i just want clarity and direction as this is my first Xterra , and i have a few codes i need to have defined and what action i need .
code 1 :
P0125 - Power Train - Inssuficient coolant Temperature for closed loop fuel control
Code 2 :
P0455 - Power train - Evaporative emissions control system leak detected (gross leak , Check fuel cap , Pipeing etc) not the fuel cap checked it.
Code 3 :
P1448 - Power train - Evap Canistor Vent Control Valve (open)
Code 4:
P0328 - Power train - Knock Sensor 1 Circuit high input (bank 1 or Single sensor) - Assume the Resistor mod can fix this?
I also have the ABS light on but since it has sat for a while i assume maybe dirty sensors or something along those lines. ( atleast i hope so )
Anyway any feedback is appreciated
Greg
PS Oh right i guess you want to know that is a 2002 Xterra SE/SC 3.3L SC V6
P0125 - Could be a bad thermostat or coolant sensor. Also check your coolant level.
P0455 - You have a leaking EVAP line somewhere. check your hoses.
P1448 - leaking evap hose or bad evap can/control valve.
P0328 - Knock sensor is bad. Since you have the SC motor I wouldn't recommend the resistor mod as you'll lose any knock protection you have. At the minimum you can get another KS sensor and do the relocation mod. Would be better to replace the existing location though for best protection. In the meantime that motor will run in limp mode.
All of the factory service manuals can be found here in pdf form. Find your model year and go to section EC and look up the codes under the VG33ER engine section and start running through the diagnostics for each code as there are multiple causes for each code. Causes for the codes are at the beginning of each code chapter and how to diagnose them follows in the the sections marked Without Consult-II
Narrowed it down to the ABS light and the Evap codes
I will be working the midnight oil tomorrow with it , on that note i do have some pictures from today . oh and a fog light doesn't work and its not just a bulb so i gotta diagnose that .
Ok so i have narrowed down a few things , ABS seems to be gone , maybe , came back on but i also have a break apart on one side ill know in the near future , EVAP codes i replaced the EVAP vent Valve solenoid , so we will see . However my biggest issue currently is my ball joints , i can't get the suckers out. Both are seized in pretty bad, atleast thats the way it seems. I have removed the brake caliper , rotor and hub assembly , and even undid the CV shaft , but i can't get that out completly so its still in the way of useing a Ball joint press , any ideas on what else i can use to get these darn ball joints out? ( yes i made the language PG , i promise there was very ugly language while working on the ball joints)
So hopefully when i get up in the morning ill have some answers or questions that lead to answers ,.

I believe he cut it in half then took a BFH to it. Before doing that if you haven't taken the BJ press off, you can try and borrow a torch to heat up the LCA. It might expand enough so you can press it out.
Managed to get the ball joint done , was a pain in my behind , but one side is done, just doing all the switch over for the rotor , anyone happen to know how to remove the bearing and repack it again ?
