I have 2001 v6, 2WD with a five speed manual transmission that needs bearings and a couple of syncros. In evaluating my options; the Gen 2 has a 6 speed manual trans. I would like the extra gear to help when I change the rear end ratio to get a lower final drive ratio. Has anyone made this switch out? Does the Gen 2 trans bolt up to the Gen 1 bell housing and cross member? Does the output shaft have to be changed, or the driveshaft? Or am I wasting my time. Thanks for any advice.
