Drove myself crazy the last few weeks. Towards he beginning of Dec, I noticed that the battery would die if I let the X sit for like two days. Then a couple of events that required some serious charging and jumping. Never had that problem in the cold before. Battery I last got for it was about 8 years and a lot of mileage ago. No bigs.

Jump it from the house, since it wouldn't fire, and it's running rough as Hell. Popping Ye-Olde-CEL-of-Doom and so I decide, time to get a new scanner to replace my broken one too. So new scanner since this is more important than a battery: Find a cylinder 3 misfire, Dead Bank 2 O2 sensor #2 (known about that for awhile), and a random unconfirmed knock (which is usually there). So I go to the plugs. With some help from my little brother we get #6 in two hours later. Job took way longer than usual because of Lucky #6 and some serious gunk buildup around 2 and 4's "tunnels" to those respective plugs.

Get paid and decide to get my battery and O2 sensor since my low mileage due to these problems is killing me fundage-wise.

Today I fire it up to go do things and it gave me the similar rough run, no CEL light, and I didn't pull codes because whatever. I decide to skip the detailed troubleshooting and do the plug wires (which have been in there since I bought the vehicle in '07), dizzy cap and rotor (which the rotor looked worn as it should, the cap looked fine to me). One trip home and no issues, slightly smoother than usual running.

After it sits for 6 months while I'm in Japan I need to plan and purchase everything for timing belt replacement #2 . It's coming up very quickly.

I took my passenger door panel off to replace the mirror because the power part wasn't working. It turns out the last person to have the door panel off didn't plug the mirror back in.

It'll work.......Trust me.

A couple of weeks ago the wife took my Xterra to work, cause she doesn't like driving her car in the snow, she calls me up the truck is dead. So I go there and try jumping it, and nothing tried a new battery still nothing. Someone suggested the 100amp fuse, and sure enough it was blown. I tried swapping it out, but gave up trying to fix it in the cold dark parking lot, and brought it in. Finally got it back the following weekend and no radio, and I have a horrific grinding noise that wasn't there when I dropped it off. Pulled the radio out and the 10amp fuse was blown, went to the amp in the back and both 30amp fuses were blown. I had an extra day off for Christmas so I started pulling belts off looking for that grinding noise, and sure enough it was the alternator. So I walked down to NAPA and picked up a new alternator, and belts, and spent most of the day laying on a piece of plywood in the snow changing the alternator.
In my search for the source of the noise I took apart the A/C idler pulley, and forgot how to put it back together. Does anyone have a diagram on how it goes back together?
