I recently purchased my 2nd X-Terra a 2002 with 45,500 original miles. My one
problem is the power windows are very slow to go down and up. Is this a simple fix or am I looking at having to replace 3 motors. If so, is this something I can tackle myself ??? I don't like paying others if it's something I can do. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-Tee
I got a response to my question in that the felt tracks are to blame rather than the motors for my slow windows. Has anyone addressed the window problem from this angle and what does the repair entail. Looking for help on this 2002
X-Terra.
If you spray silicon oil down the tracks, usually the windows will pick right up. Use a high content silicone spray!
Also if only one or two are doing it, the adjustments may need to be reset on the tracks.
so how fast IS smell? you're lucky it's -10, it's pouring rain and above freezing over here in Cape Breton.and it's supposed to turn back to snow later- real crap day
That sucks for you guys^! I was wearing shorts today in the great state of Georgia! But my 1st gen windows do that and are slow as molasses! Just kinda learned to live with it.
just finished mine off today. shot the silicone down the tracks [thanks again Racer] and it helped. then I got another idea. I popped the door panels off and sprayed white lithium grease on the section the mechanism rides up and down. it takes about 5 minutes to pull the panels off [take the screws out first]. They aren't as fast as the fronts now but they are a lot better and seem to be 'working in' as I use them more. Maybe that's the trick
