High Idle..No Service Engine Light..

HI! I have a 01 Xterra 3.3. In good shape and changed valve cover gaskets last weekend. A few days later..I noticed upon starting my tach jumps three or four times and settles. It doesn't have any issues and I assumed a vacuum leak and was never able to find one with intake cleaner or by hearing.
Last night upon driving for a few hours...whenever I had stopped from Hwy driving the tach rose to 2000 rpms and stood there for a while..then settled back down and came down to the norm..900-1000rpms. It did this several times as I had came to a stop. I can cut the car off and start it back up and idles fine.
All the connectors are correctly placed. No Service Engine light. No funny stalling, delayed throttle response, smoke out of exhaust, no studdering no misfires. Just the increased idle? If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome. I didn't mess with the TPS whenever removing plentinum. I didn't remove anything that should have changed the idle.
Thanks Guys!

It does sound like a vacuum hose problem like you said. Other things I would check for would be that you got the throttle cables all snugged back down and that the cable doesnt need adjusted any. Could also be a sticky throttle body plate, or MAF.

Apply dirt liberally, rinse and repeat
