I am an old wheeler and am looking at getting my first Nissan (had a Datsun 240Z waaaay back when) and am getting rid of my '02 Ranger with 59K miles as I want an enclosed space for my stuff. I have got my eye on a couple of Xterras and while I was looking I ran across several pathfinders and here is my question. The pathfinders I've come across all have locker rear diffs. and the Xterras don't. So, please tell me in your opinion why You chose the Xterra over the pathfinder, besides the fact that the Xterra is body on frame and the pathfinder is not. I've spent the last 4 months doing my research and it came down to the FJ cruiser vs. the Xterra and I am here because my research says XTERRA !!!! John

My Pro-4X has a locking rear diff, yes, which model years are you looking at?

I wasn't considering the Pathfinder as it's a bit bigger and has the same 4l V6, well tuned differently for a bit more output but still. I've got no family or a dog to haul about so I didn't need anything like that. Besdies the Xterra looks much better in my opinion.

Second Generation, looking at one with similar mileage (59K+-) as my ranger. Want to keep my nut with trade around 18-20K so I can just write a check as cash is king. I have looked at '07s -'12s and found a '11 with under 36K for under $23K and I checked it out yesterday and the sneakers are brand new, still got nipples on 'em. It was a rental car in Fla. and has a clean carfax and was in Naples. Airport rental maybe ?
