Question Question on Firestick CB antenna's

Ok, my next mod is to add a CB. I'm going to go with the small Cobra and put it in the ashtray slot. That way I can still keep my double DIN when I upgrade the radio. I'm also going to add satelite radio. I plan on getting a 4' antenna and mount it to the back as far up as I can get away with around here with the door hinge mount.

The first question is with this product. An AM/FM CB Splitter.

Amazon Amazon

Are these really worth it or is it a waste of time.

Second question is the Firestick antennas themselves. I see Firestick and Firestick II adjustable antenna's. I'm not sure which one to get.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thats a sweet part! Just not sure why I would want to run the radio through the CB. THe X already has a mast of a radio antenna. I would avoid the headache of it being more difficult to tune and leave it out. Keep the two systems seperate, ya kno?

Not sure about the differecne in the two...but it looks like you can tune the FSII without a SWR tuner as it uses an adjustable knob on the top of the stik.

Never tuned a cb antenna in the past just used a magnetic mount on the roof haha.

Well actually, truth be known, I have an old CB radio with a roof mount. But it's a big radio and I'd have to go from double DIN to single and I'm not sure if then it would even fit. I'm going to do some serious measuring this weekend. So many choices.....so little money, lol

I chose to go with a 3' Firestik Firefly antenna. The Firefly model is thinner and more flexible than the original Firestiks so it moves more with wind resistance or when hitting low hanging branches. I also run a Firestik medium-duty spring to help reduce stress on the mounting bracket. In addition, I ditched the wimpy screws that came with the bracket and bolted it to the body instead.

I like the Firefly. So how do you know it's in tune without SWR tuner?

The Firefly model has the same tunable tip as the original Firestik antennas, if that's what you're referring to...
