Good news, lift and tires are both installed at it looks great. Bad news is by the time the tires were mounted and the alignment was done it got too dark outside to take pictures. Will take photos when I get home from work tomorrow.

I do have some rubbing on the inside fender at full lock, seems to be rubbing right where the mudflap meets the fender so it looks like I'll have to do the melt mod. Is the stock gearing adequate enough for the 33's or do you recommend upgrading in the future? I'm not sure how much extra strain the 33's have over the 31's although the weight doesn't seem to be a lot more than the stock tires.

Melt Mod will definitely take care of the rubbing for you. You'll want to do that pretty quick because full lock + suspension compression will = major rub / stuck tire that will be hard to turn.

The stock gearing on the X has been plenty good imo for 33s. The stock tires are closer to 32" (at least on the OR model) so the 33s are really only an inch beyond what the X was sent with oem, and the VQ40 puts out really good power numbers. I might consider regearing for 35x12.5 tires but for putting down power that has as much to do with the huge width as it does the extra height.

Took a few photos before it got dark outside, unfortunately the pictures dont do it justice, its actually taller than it looks. Barely fits in the garage. Now lets see if these pictures work. These are before and after photos.

Yeah I know what you mean, it's really difficult to angle the camera right to take a picture that really accentuates a few inches of height. What I've found is that I try to take pictures closer to the ground now to give that perception of height.

Best part is now when the rear hatch is open, I dont crack my head on it when unloading stuff in the back! The shop that installed the lift said that the lift measured a little over 3" in the front and just a little over 2" in the back (I'm thinking maybe thats to offset the settling that will happen over time). I was going to take some better pics with your suggestion but I was running out of time.

Kits normally lift the front a little more to make the vehicle look more level. By design the front is supposed to be lower than the back for aerodynamics and other purposes. Though it will settle some over the next week or so.

Yeah, this now my second vehicle that I had lifted. I had a 2001 Dodge Ram Reg. cab that I had lifted. Had a 5" suspension lift and 3" body lift with 37" tires. I sold that a couple years ago. I didn't want to go too extreme with the xterra as its my daily driver. I have to say that Nissan should have done at least the Pro4x's with 33's and a slightly taller stance, they look great.

I ended up doing the melt mod so the 295/75/16's would fit, however I still had to do a little trimming. Must be 295's slightly larger size than the 285's make the difference. I can turn fine now no rubbing except when in reverse going over uneven ground, then it rubs on the metal part of the fenders. Taking it easy now until I can figure out a solution to that. I'm not familiar with wheel spacers so I dont know if that will solve anything or not. Doesn't seem like that would solve the problem I'm having but it was a suggestion I was given. Any thoughts?

Most people here will tell you wheel spacers in the front are a bad idea. If they're not a quality item they can create a weak point in the suspension setup and add leverage force to what the rest of the suspension arms have to deal with which can wear them out faster.

Also removing backspacing probably won't help with rubbing. Because of the change in geometry, moving the pivot point of the wheel deeper will actually cause the wheels to rub more. I'd imagine though it won't take too much to get them to be rub free. I'll take a picture of how much got trimmed off of my fender to fit the 33s later and post it up. On mine you can't even tell if you're not staring at it.

Thanks Revu that'd help getting an idea of how it would look. Also I found out I have a piece of metal stuck in my brand new tires, looks to be some sort of fencing but cant tell for sure. Going to the place I bought the tires to have it removed and hopefully plugged.
