Rear Door Hatch stuck

Hello
My rear door is stuck shut. The lock is fine it seems that whatever attached the outside door handle to the latch to open the door has become detached. I can hear the lock open and close when I use the keyless entry also hen I use the key it turns free with no issue. I can't seem to get the inside panel off with it shut. Is there a way to get the latch to release from the inside????

Thanks in advance
Clayton

you should be able to take off the door latch handle trim on the outside and free up the latch by reaching in the hole and pulling up the little rod that is attached to the handle

Or you could try and take the plastic molding off from the inside and get to it that way.

It's been a couple years..., any word on how you got your door to open?
Same thing just happened to me. It feels like the child lock is working on both sides .
can hear the lock locking/unlocking just fine.

I have an 02 and i have a similar issue. I can hear it lock/unlock. I go to pull the handle and it starts to open and in a split second it remains shut. Bugs the living heck out of me! I learned just to open it via key.

I had to remove the back panel to get it open. Turns out the back of the plastic handle broke that operates the mechanism to unlatch the door. I repaired it and works fine now. All in all the repair took me a couple hours. Just be careful when you remove the back panel if I remember right it wedged in the door when closed.
