Ok thanks to Sandy and the resulting gas shortage, I got some bad gas.
It was in a 5 gallons container, I poured some out to look at it, it was the color of beer, but not cloudy. Regardless it turned over fine, slightly higher idle 1k rpms, but not long after started to "grumble" in low gears, on the highway it was fine, but stalled out right before my house waiting at a red light.
Do I drain the tank? Can I siphoned the gas out? Do I have to flush the tank? How?
Taking the train to work for now, not going anywhere until this is fixed.
Help please.

Yeah drain the tank was my first thought, but can we siphon gas out, or do I have to drop the tank? Not in a great position to work under the car, (city streets, no jack stands, no readily accessible tools).
A productive question is does anybody have experience draining the tank, either by siphoning or disconnecting the lines, etc?

dont forget to replace the fuel filter. I got some bad gas after a flood that was full of water and the truck took a while to run right. I tried siphoning the gas out but couldnt get it all out. Had to drop the tank anyway (mouth full of gas for nothing) went through about 3 filters and several plugs before it finally seemed like it cleared up and ran right. but that was an 81 chevy scottsdale and it was a finicky miserable beast to drive anyway. The carb was all screwed up, stupid spaghetti hoses on the stock carb were a pain.

Ok, took the to the local mechanic, he dropped and drained the tank for $200, new fuel filter and oil change $75. For $275 it was worth it to watch someone else do it.
Now the X is running right and it's got a full tank of gas.
