I took my 04 in to the dealership per the instructions from Nissan to have the lower steering column replaced due to recall. Now it has a whine while turning right and feels like it is grinding inside the steering column. I know it is coming from in there. Nissan wants me to have them do a diagnostic to see if they are at fault. It is a nice way for them to take $95 of my cash for something they messed up. Nissan is starting to piss me off.
Anyhow, anybody know what they may have messed up? Is there anything they may have forgotten to grease?
I had this done no problems. If it's been within a short range of miles and time, just refuse to pay the $95. Explain the situation, and have a full on blown rant there. Also pick a busy time of day, so your rant is over heard by more people. And remember, it's not Nissan. Nissan impressed me with this recall, the failure was a VERY limited case all at low speed conditions on trucks that actually got put to use. Your problem involves this one dealership, one mechanic (who probably did mess up) and the people who run it. If this gets you nowhere, take it to Nissan, the BBB, and everything you can for bad advertising.
If it's grinding inside the steering column, I would say it was a faulty part they installed on the recall.
We must be cut from sort of the same mould. I was thinking about doing that. I just need to find out when the best time is. I found a site called pissed customer that likes to contact folks like that and help them change their ways.
I WOnder what is grinding. These many exact reasons are why i decided not to take my X in for the recall. 1 Worry about another man touching my girl(X) lol and 2 the recall did not sound all that important as I have never even heard of the incident where this has happened.
The recall is nice to get done. If done properly the steering can be smoother. There is a small u joint in the column that gets replaced. Any how, they're out of their damned minds to charge you anything especially if you turned right back around and told them about it
Power steering fluid is fine. I may go there on Monday and "hangout". If I don't get them to take care of it by noon, I'll get a huge sign that tells of what they did and walk the public sidewalk outside their place. Nice thing is, I am retired so I can be there everyday, lol
