My Xterra is Dead - End of an Era

I am sad to say that my X has died for probably the last time.

The engine threw some stuff that was supposed to stay IN the engine OUT of the engine on Rt 195 on Wednedsay, making a load bang and a hole that spewed oil and smoke from under the hood in somewhat dramatic fashion.

I am working my ass off doing hurricane/disaster response work...and have zero $ to fix it.

I borrowed a car to get to work, etc, but, can't even buy another one...luckily I can borrow it for a while, but, its a nissan cube, and it can't get through even the beach properties I am working at, due to the large amount of debris on the streets, sink holes, etc.

So, with the X down for the count, no $ and no Time to fix or even replace it...I'm afraid I'm xterra-less in NJ.

sorry to hear that. You definitely have one of the baddest xterras I have seen, but you just cant win with the engines can you.

good luck getting it all back together and running.

get someone with AAA premium to get it towed to Mike's and buy whatever you need off my rig.

That really sucks

Is the engine even salvageable?

or wait till the my truck is stripped, buy it from Mike at scrap price and put you stuff from your other truck on it. if you don't have the money up front, I'm sure we can work out a payment plan.....

Sorry TJ, that sucks. I thought maybe that engine would last you a while since it was already a replacement engine. Not good. Maybe you can find another when the time and cash permit.

I wonder if Ken over at LINXC has any parts? I think he was parting out or selling his X the last I heard.

Its more of a time and money issue. If it wasn't for that it would be sitting in my driveway already. Well work something out if tjtj want to keep it. I have AAA premium but I don't think they will tow it again since AAA already towed it once under tjtj plan.

OK, I'm still in recovery mode...I don't have a concrete plan yet other than to see if I have any $, and/or any time and/or a break from the arthritis, later.

If yes to any of the above...I have options. IE: Get the engine swapped/repaired, buy another rig and swap the parts over one way or the other, etc.

If no, well, I'm already AT no.

:D

sucks when these things happen. if you've got a place to let 'er sit ,do what I did last year. it sat in the garage for 14 months until i had time last winter. in my case it wasn't because of love of the rig just too far in to let go and to stubborn to quit.if you go that way you probably know a hell of a lot more than me so I'm not offering any advice just sympathy and the suggestion.

I hear Ronin may have a complete X for sale... Or just a Diesel engine if you're interested.
