Paint Edging made easy

One of the topics I wanted to talk about today and that is how to get a nice smooth edge when painting your trim. As you can see in the picture below I painted the fenders black particularily the parts that flares out. In the past I have used masking tape but I find its not flexible. With it not being flexible its hard to get a nice continuous curve. What I did was use black electrical tape as my guiding edge. As you apply the elecrical tape you will find it is very flexible and does not overlap when making round edges. One my front bumper that black edge was one continuous edge, not multiple pieces. Once you have the back tape down then you can add a layer of masking tape over the black tape closest to the side NOT being painted. Once that is doen then simply cover the areas that you don't want painted with newspaper. MAKE sure to apply another layer of making take over the area where the newspaper and black tape meet. Why? Well if you don't the sprayed paint can make its way under and paint where you don't want paint. On these fenders I used body bed liner spray. It sticks well, dries fast and is very durable. Hope this helps. In the summer I plan on spraying the rear bumper and other areas with this paint.:pfurz-big:
