Hello all i have a 01 X no mods on the engine and no mods on the body. it has roughly 177xxx on it and we got it from a car lot. I have checked compression (140psi) replaced the cap, rotor, plugs (not wires yet)but nothing has changes since i started to replace parts. I tested for spark and got it. i swapped wires and still the same. everything was running great till yesterday we were backing up and felt the engine stumble and hesitate like it was gonna die. Then not even 1 mile later the cel came on. as soon as that happened we went to get the codes checked. When i pull the wire #3 from the cap the engines performance stays the same....which tells me that the cylinder is not firing at all. or am i missing something could the injector be bad??

Any help at all is greatly appreciated this is my daily driver and i cannot pay for the stealership. im pretty mechanical but i cant figure this out for the life of me.

Thanks everyone.

Maybe you put in a faulty plug or wire? Does that plug still get spark? ( sounds like you said it had spark before you swapped stuff?)

Maybe try the ear on screwdriver test... on the injector... see if you can hear it firing.

i havent done the screwdriver test yet. i will do that tonight but i found a TSB about this whol situation and the injectors being clogged and causing a hesitation. but at my local parts store a new injector is 90 dollars and i dont want to just condem the injector this early. could i put some fuel system cleaner through the system to see if it will clear out.

Woot!! Woot!!!

well guess what it was in fact the injector. i checked for voltage at the connecter and it was there. went ahead and just decided o replace it they had it at my local parts store for 94 bucks. it was actually really easy and quick to do only two phillips head screws and it popped right out. put in the new one and cleared the codes, drove about 15 miles and everything in running fine now. pulling the plug wire actually causes the engine to stumble now so that is a good sign in my eyes :)

thanks for the help guys
