I've got a pair of flood pattern lights and a pair of spot lights to install on my truck.

Are different mounting locations better suited to each type of light?

I was planning to put one pair on the front bumper and the other pair up on the roof rack. Which should go where, and why?

Here's more info from the manufacturer about my lights and beam patterns:
http://www.grote.com/product.php?product_number=63571

Here are the two patterns I have, what I was calling flood isn't a super diffuse flood, they call it "trapezoid":

I just want to try and get the right lights in the right places for the right reasons. I'm looking for some technical guidance beyond "I think lights on the roof look badass".

That brand is interesting...never heard of them before. I would imagine their prices are higher than KC or Hella...
Yeah, they aren't cheap (if you pay retail). But they are built like tanks...

...the ones I got were originally spec'd for installation on Stryker armored vehicles.

For the money why not just go with HID's or more common LED light bar? Im all about doing things for the sake of originality but I dont see the advantages...

Your going to need 2 batteries im fairly sure and you will need a regulator to step down the voltage for things like the radio and heater/ac controls.

Unless you have easy access to that equipment I would look at other methods of lighting?

Nah, you'd just wire your 12V stuff off of one battery. (But a 2 battery setup would still have it's wiring/charging issues)

Look at it this way, big rigs do the same thing for the 12v accessories. Pull them off of *one* battery rather than the full battery pack setup

I got these for way less than any of those options would have cost me. No, I didn’t steal them.

I’m going to run a pair of small 12/24v DC step up transformers to power only the lights. Should be easy enough once I decide on the right one. Amazon.com has plenty to choose from.

i thought the LED lights had a built in regulator to be powered with either 12 or 24 volts....i am sure i read that somewhere
It depends.

The lights I have are available in 12v, 24v, and 12/24v. Mine are the 24v version.
