In the near future I want to remove the stock bumper from my 2000 xterra. Because the truck has an airbag and sensors in the bumper I would want to make sure that when removing it the air bag does not get triggered. What pre-cautions would I need to take or be aware of? Possibly simple as disconnecting wires from the bumper to the air bag sensing equipment.
What are the steps involved and perhaps there is a thead on this? Thanks guys.
I know the 2002 models are different from 2000 and 2001 models, but I dont have any sensors in my bumper and I dont think you do either. on my truck to take it off, you just unhook the fog lights and undo the 4 bolts on the side of the frame horns and the thing will fall on the ground.

Theres also c hooks on either side of the fenders that you'll need a 10mm socket and extension to reach. and 2 little cross bars on the bottom that tie to the frame and can be removed with a 10mm socket.
I completely forgot about those c hooks and support bars. both of my support bars were snapped when I bought it so they have been gone, and those c hooks on the fender were so much of a pain to get off I never put them back on.
Where did you get your bumper as shown in this post? It looks alot like the bumper from Addictedoffroad.com
