New member here. Joined site to help make my 2000 Xterra with 241k miles look better. It runs great with only basic repair history (Timing Belt broke at 180k).
Subject Question: What are some good Maintenance repairs to help fuel economy and stay running into 300k (I think it can go 350k). Debating changing the O2 Sensors can cost close to $400 for that.
Hi and welcome to Club X
Use only synthetic oils in all areas. Synthetics stop wear, but if you are not using it with that many miles, the first oil change of expensive oil should be done as soon as the oil looks dirty (which is metal and sludge worn off from non-syn oil use). You may even have to do it a couple of times before the normal change times.
By now, I am sure most of the rubber stuff on the engine is hard and needs replacing, including ALL the hoses!
With regular service, it should last a long, long time. (many more years)
If you're not original owner, make sure there isn't any deferred maintenance - other than that, you've just received some excellent advice in the previous posts.
