Hey guys I'm having a problem with my 03 xterra , it has the v6 3.3,
It continues to run really rough and almost stall when motors warm .. So far I've replaced the plugs , wires , distributor, knock sensor , yet still have the problem .. I'm also noticing some black soot under the truck coming from the exhaust .. The codes were p0300 & p0328 . Which is misfire and knock sensor .. I did notice when I replaced the plugs that the #6 plug in the back was black colored , the rest of the plugs were caramel colored , like they should be ..

I'm thinking maybe a coil is bad ? Are there 6 separate coils for each cylinder ?

Help

Maybe a faulty fuel injector ? How do I test the fuel injectors ? Cause I did get a code last week from auto zone that said misfire on # 6 cylinder , and that was the plug that was black , the rest of the plugs were normal , I replaced that #6 plug , it ran better for a few hours , then threw the p0300 & p0328 code again ..

Got me stumped .. C'mon guys , whatcha think ? :christmas7-big:

Thanks

No exhaust leaks , I just sea foamed the motor and put some in fuel tank , hope that might help the injector .. But what I'm wondering is , if that #6 spark plug was black , wouldn't that mean there's a rich condition ? Like it's getting too much fuel ?

Think of the injector as a valve. If it is all gummed up or has debris in it, it may create a condition where the injector is sticking open longer than usual. Seafoam might help but if you want...try taking the injector out and spraying the end with carb cleaner. Should remove varnish...im not sure that will cure the issue but its worth a shot.

Thats what I would do anyway...
