Well guys,
The xterra is hands down the best vehicle I've ever owned. A perfect equilibrium between an adventure vehicle and a daily driver. And I doubt there is a car community anywhere in the world as supportive, mature and interesting as you folks at clubxterra. That's why it kills me to say that I'm selling my X.

Yesterday I bought a 2007 pathfinder. I needed a bigger vehicle that was a little more luxurious to take clients around in (I'm a realtor), but I couldn't bear to stray too far from the path that the xterra took me on. The pathfinder sure has it's perks, but sadly it'll always feel like a tampon on wheels after the wild ride my X has taken me on.

This doesn't mean you'll never hear from me again, but I won't be here nearly as much. If all goes well I'll sell the x to my father in law, giving me plenty of excuses to show up here. That said, I really couldn't do that without thanking you guys first.

You guys made me proud to own the vehicle I owned, and made me feel as though I was part of a real, worldwide community. THANK YOU GUYS so much for your help, your patience, for laughing with me and for crying with me.

Thanks again fellas (and lady or 2), it's been a blast.
I've heard mixed reviews about the Calmini rack, particularly regarding the materials used and the fact that they seem to rust out given Canadian winters and weather.

Has anyone built a full replacement for their roof rack, or have any opinions on either of the options above?

I'm not opposed to spending on something like the Gobi, but I believe I could have something fabbed up locally for much less.

Appreciate any insight.

Hey, new to the forum, new to Xterras. I have owned a Nissan in the past (07 Frontier) but mainly I stick to Audis.

Picked up the Xterra because I miss being able to leave the asphalt. I am planning on modding when I get it; for fuel economy and moar powa as I can't leave anything alone. Anything I can do to increase the pumping efficiency of the motor and free up power is of interest to me.

I am planning:
Headers (Thorleys or ACs?...which is better? Why?)

Catback...looks like the Magnaflow is the only one I have found that is 2.5" all the way out, and since it is a single exhaust, diameter is critical. I would like to know if there are any good dual setups with a proper Hpipe or Xpipe? Most Ypipes blow chunks.

Electric fan/HD radiator conversion from Concept Customs.

Bilstein shocks and Calmini Torsion bars to take the 'splash' out of the front end.

Maybe in the future:
HP cams,
Chip from 4x4parts...

Anything else I should keep in mind for good mods? I am not going to be rock crawling, but I have been known to disappear for a few weeks at a time and ending up anywhere in the Rockies from Northern Arizona to Northern Canada.

Mainly want the X to have some balls, get halfway decent MPGs, and be able to hit 90% of the dirt roads out there.......won't be needing a lift just yet...if ever.

On the other side of the garage is an Audi S4; and it will be collecting dust for a few months while the engine is being modded into a 500+HP beast. I like to get into the performance aspect of my cars; so it will be fun to have another engine to play with besides the finicky, expensive as hell to mod, axle shredding V8 in the Audi.

cheers,
