Just wanted to know If anyone has done the poor mans suspension lift with the calmini shackles or fabtech on a two wheel drive X and if it worked out ok.

There should be no reason that it wouldn't work OK on a 2wd. They have the same suspension set up.

I've done a calmini add a leaf on the rear of my 04.....pleased with result, for cargo, but just barely goes in garage when empty, and sporting safari rack....

Hey, I just read your post with the add a leaf from Calmini.
I picked up the set just last week for an 05 and there aren't any instructions.
They did send a fax which basically said remove it all and reverse the procedure to install.
I'm guessing that your 04 is the same in the rear,,,,did the add-a-leaves (2)
go above the straight stock section on the bottom ?
Thanks, Jim

The AAL go on the bottom of the spring pack.

1. Jack up rear end and place on jackstands (supported by the frame).
2. Place jack under passanger side of the axle, just next to the u-bolt plate.
3. Un-bolt the 4 bolts on the u-bolts. Loosen them evenly.
4. Use two C-clamps to hold the spring pack together.
5. Take out center bolt.
6. Slowly loosen C-clamps.
7. Place new AAL pack under existing spring pack. Hold in place with the 2 C-clamps.
8. Replace the center bolt with the new one. ***Make sure you put it back the right way, you might have to jack up the axle to get it in there and / or you might have to cut it shorter.
9. Tighten the center bolt (torque it down to the proper setting)
10. Place supplied shim between the axle and spring. (Place so the thin part faces the rear, thick part faces front. This will increase the pinion angle and keep the rear drive shaft in line so it does not cause vibrations.
11. Position axle so that it the center bolt drops into axle perch.
12. Install new U-bolts (torque them down to the propper setting)
13. Repeat for the other side.
14. After about 500 miles re-torque all bolts.

These are just off the top of my head and logic and common sense should be used when doing any mods to your X.

The one thing I would add to that: (between #6 and 7)

Remove the loadleaf

Hey ! Here's to Muzikman and Anthony ! The two of you are Great !
I just installed my AAL from Calmini on my 05 and without the two of you,,,,I would have been in trouble.
Actually, I would have been screaming at Calmini for not having any instructions.
You guys should sell your expertise to Calmini.
Thank You again for your assistance.
