i was just wondering if any one has the in dash gps system by pioneer, if so how are the maps and how is the over all use of the unit? does the unite auto correct when you miss your turn or does it take you back to the last point you were on the route then reroute you? its the Pioneer AVIC-F700BT or up. also wondering how is the radio side of the unit is, like the radio and the ipod controls and also the cd function also the out put sound of the unit. thanks for any one who posts in advance.

I have the AVIC 880 (I believe that's the one). I didn't buy it. It was installed in the vehicle when I puchased it. To my knowledge, if you miss your turn/exit, it tells you to get off at the next turn/exit to re-route you.

I don't often use the GPS because I do mostly local driving. So there's no need to use it.

I have the D3. The GPS is ok but i'd rather use my Google nav on my phone or my TomTom. I do like that i can turn on my tracking so that if i'm off road i can go back the same way i came. Never had an ipod hooked up or any of the other things it can handle (blue tooth, traffic, satellite radio) but i do love the rear view camera input. It even switches to the camera automatically when i put the truck in reverse. I love my D3 so much when it stopped reading disks i found a shop to fix it instead of getting a new one.

Mine is a little different. I have a hide-away screen for navigation. The tuner has a removeable faceplate. The tracking DVD is mounted below the tuner.

I don't believe it has a back up camera, Bluetooth or USB hookup.

I don't know how old it is. I'm the 3rd owner. I'm not sure who installed it.

My wife and kids are going away to visit family out of town the end of August. Maybe then I'll have time to look at it and play. Lol

It has a remote that I can attach to the steering wheel and a voice command microphone. But again, I haven't played with it much to know the features. I still haven't changed the clock on the radio. But I was able to figure out how program the radio stations. Lol

I have the avic-n3. The navigation unit will re-route you if you miss a turn etc. The units (not sure about all the pioneers but at least the N and Z series) have gyro sensors built in to help track you in higher cities where the GPS signal may be lost due to tall buildings etc. Even for an older unit it works well

I have the Pioneer Avic X920BT in dash. The GPS is pretty good and does reroute you. I have been pretty impressed with how many places/streets/etc it has in it - even out in the boonies. I got mine more for the ipod/iphone hookup and integration, bluetooth cell and music, Pandora, satellite radio, DVD. Nice touch screen for almost every function (a few buttons). Everything is also voice activated which is pretty cool. It has digital radio and reverse camera but I didn't buy the camera. I recommend it but it isn't cheap.

Mine is a 2003 edition. I had pulled the GPS DVD and noticed 2003 imprinted on the disc. I've see a 2009 gps DVD available on eBay compatible with my unit.

I did notice there is a slot for some sort of memory card. Anyone know what that's about?

yeah.. mine are the mt90s... they arent originals but copies i got off of ebay when i was in a hurry before we went down to johns hopkins. in the end i got my downloaded east coast disc working so never even used the ebay ordered ones, so if the mt90 (newer revision than mt80) works on yours i can mail them to you if you want

You have the MT90 discs? Hummm... Not sure if the MT is compatible with my AVIC-80 DVD player.

I thought your last comment said you had the N Series.

If I'm understanding you correctly, I hope I am. You have/had a Pioneer AVIC 90MT.

I did a search on eBay for the AVIC 90MT. I've also seen some CNDV 90MT. If I'm reading the specs right, they all seem interchangeable.

cndv mt## = nav disc set model #

if you look at the ebay auction you posted, the model for the disc set is MT80... I have the MT90 disc set (next newer set). at least i believe its the 90 ill have to double check tomorrow.

the model of pioneer hardware I have is the AVIC-N3. (AVIC- is a hardware model #.. CNDV- is the disc set model # :))

edit.. CNDV-##MT or CNDV-MT##... i forget how pioneer write the disc model #.. either way I'm about 100% sure my set is the 90 and not 80

Ok, I did a search for the CNDV MT90. I don't believe they're compatible. It only shows the AVIC N1-N5 series units.

www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/Map-Upgrades/CNDV-80MT

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Accessories/CNDV-90MT

it does leave out your model but still lists the n1/2/3 and d1/2 like the 80 so im not sure. dont know if its one of those pop the disc in and it eithet works or just says sorry wont work, or if something would get messed up. may be worth asking pioneer.

that last one you posted is messed up as it lists units the 08 disc lists as compatable but says its 2010+... the 80MT is going to be an 07/08 disc... the 90MT will be a 2009/10 disc. id imagine the 90MT discs i have would work, but again you could fire off an email to pioneer (i think it would based on it supports the way old N1 and N2/D1 units... and says when used with touch screen pioneer units which your device should be included since the 80MT does...)

ok.. think i found the answer.... my bet is theres an xml or another config file on the disc that lists compatable devices so the pioneer knows to use it or not (so im betting that last ebay thing is a 90MT map data with the 80MT config section or some hybrid setup like that).. basing that on this:

i hope it can be modified like the 90mt to work on the avic- 80 and avic -90
have lots of new streets here in kissimme fl

avic411.com/index.php?/topic/28697-cndv-100mt-are-now-posted/page__st__18

so it may be worth checking elsewhere in the avic411.com forums to see what needs changed etc etc or if the original 90MT does infact work on your unit without modifications.

plus the avic411 site is a great place to find tweaks and hacks on all of the pioneer units
