: New to forum and first Xterra (09 Xterra Off Road) *pic*
spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 06:31 PM Hey guys/gals, On tuesday I received my first Xterra (Super Black). I am really stoked about this car and fell in love with it during the test drive. I was orginally going to purchase a FJ, but after driving both, the answer was obvious to me. Such an amazing car and I can't wait to take it trailing and camping. I am definitley looking to make a road trip soon.
Although stock now, I plan to get a load warrior as my first mod/accessory. My Xterra has all of the features of the off road model, (e.g. rear diff lock, 4x4, etc.) tow package, and the technology package.
I went out to take a quick shot of my X (ill post better when I can) so here she is:

vandebogart 04-02-2009, 06:33 PM Welcome to CX!
Sweet X!!
The first thing you need to do:
Stop calling your truck a car ;)
And welcome to the site :)
Xterra Mike 04-02-2009, 06:38 PM so nice. Welcome to the club and X2 on what Odin said.
spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 06:38 PM Haha you say potato, I say potato.....well, you get the point. Technically its not a truck either. You should stop calling your SUV a truck. ;)
TN4x4Xterra 04-02-2009, 06:38 PM Welcome!
Sweet looking X!
You'll love the Yakima Loadwarrior....I've had mine since 2001 and still am loving it...meets everything I need for it!
spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 06:40 PM ^^ Does the load warrior block the roof rack storage from opening up?
TN4x4Xterra 04-02-2009, 06:42 PM I've not heard any complaints from 2nd gen owners about it, as matter of fact, I think TXterra37 had one before he swapped it out for a full custom rack.
I have 1st gen (2001) so I don't have a 2nd gen (2005-2009) but never heard a complaint about it. The crossbars will move if you need to adjust it though.
spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 06:43 PM Good to know. Thanks. Next thing on the list is to find trails in Texas. I currently own a 05 subaru wrx that I rallycross with scca, so I figured with my next purchase I need to venture in another form of off road activities (hence the X). :)
Haha you say potato, I say potato.....well, you get the point. Technically its not a truck either.
Yeah mine will get mad if you call it a car ;)
It is built on a truck frame, and handles much more like a truck than an SUV so... ;)
Either way, it's an awesome ride, and that locker will be nice if you ever off road it.
And yeah I'm sure the regular load warrior should be fine - but if you put the extension on or get a mega warrior it may come forward too much, not sure.
Check craigslist - I got an awesome deal on there for my load warrior.
xcrazy 04-02-2009, 06:46 PM Dude I just saw a black one at the dealership today,it looked badassss. The rims are pretty nice.Just one thing, start calling it your Truck.I just believe its not a car.Whos with me?
silverbullet 04-02-2009, 06:47 PM Welcome!
The Loadwarrior won't fit with the extension but if you use jsut the regular one without the extension you'll be fine.
spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 06:52 PM So funny it bothers some of you that I call it a car. Ive owned all variations of vehicles, and as a sum, I call them cars. If someone asks what type of car, ill go into further details, otherwise, its a car to me. Oh well, you can call your vehicle anything you want, I could careless.
To Odin:
You are right it is on a truck frame like most suv's. Oh well. Thanks for the info about the load warrior, Ill definitely have to check out craigslist.
It also won Truck of the Year in 2000, lol.
We're just messing with you anyway :)
spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 06:54 PM ^^ Right on. No worries, I didnt take it offensively. Thanks for the info guys!
Steeze 04-02-2009, 07:09 PM Badass X! Black was a good choice, btw your also going to have to post some pics of your WRX. I would like to see it...
Steeze 04-02-2009, 07:40 PM Bitchin!

spirited_driver 04-02-2009, 07:41 PM Steeze:
The only shots I have are w/o my suspension upgrade (and mudflaps) from autox to rallyx.

Grats, welcome to the club.
I call mine a Rig since it's filled with car luxuries, drives like a truck and handles off road stuff with the best of them.
Check out a low rider rack, depending on your needs : http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2670&highlight=dephep
That thing is bomb proof! I'm still waiting on decent weather to paint & mount mine.
SHADOW 04-03-2009, 03:02 AM Aloha and welcome to the club.Beautiful SUV you`ve got there.Great color choice BTW.The '09 sure would look good with this mod:

I agree with Shadow on the front end mod, for sure....
Drake 04-03-2009, 07:42 AM Welcome to CX!
Good choice on staying away from the FJ! Not only because of my bias for the X but word is Toyota is ending production in either 2010 or 2011 of the FJ.
json3904 04-03-2009, 07:47 AM there are a few places to wheel here in texas... it all depends on how far you want to travel...

I didnt know that. I dont know if that would have made an impact on my decision, but all around, I felt that the Xterra is a better designed/performing car for the outdoor/active consumer.

Im always up for a road trip. We got back from Guadalupe Mountains NP about two weeks ago, such a beautiful place. I would love to find some trails in the Austin area, but im willing to drive around.

Agreed with Ian. I have the extension and I had to take off the roof gear basket so my crossbars would mount on the roof rails further up but its not a problem cuz I'll get to use my sunroof more often. lol.
aznboihoy03 04-03-2009, 01:11 PM NICE X! welcome to CX!
