Finally got one, so happy, '03 Xterra 4x4. No mods yet but a lobo rack, love that damn thing. Taken it off road a few time, put a pretty nasty cut in the side wall, about 5 inches long third trip out, waiting to save for new tire. anything at 117k i should do either preventive or just needs to be done at that point? Would going high mileage synthetic be worth the time and cash?? Synthetic fluids all around good idea???

Welcome to CX! :wink-big:

Has the timing belt been changed? That is recommended service at 105K. Take care of that and maybe a water pump and that's the bulk of the NEEDED maintenance. The t-belt is the most important thing though. If that sucker snaps, you could do some serious damage to your motor.

Outside of that... wheel the hell out of it!

Let's see some pics!

It is very doable for those handy with a wrench but it is a time-intensive process so you will need to dedicate a full day to it pretty much.

Read through this How-to that Dezurtrat put together. It will give you an idea of cost and you can judge whether or not to take on this project yourself.
